Easy Writer© is a multimedia CD-ROM for Windows computers which teaches English. Easy Writer© presents hundreds of authentic papers written by real ESL students. The task in Easy Writer© is to correct the texts by identifying and then clicking on the mistakes and then fixing them.
Jane Boris, the author of Easy Writer© software, knows how to teach ESL grammar as well as anyone. She has been teaching it for over 20 years. Jane feels that one of the most difficult aspects of teaching ESL is proper grammar skills in context. Every teacher knows what good writing is, but very few can actually teach it. Since every piece of writing is unique, it is often a moving target.
What many students need most is practice and supervision. Since this is impractical in our era of tightening teacher budgets and time constraints, Easy Writer© comes to the rescue by giving students a chance to practice on their own. The computer keeps track of mistakes and guides the students toward a better understanding of the English language.
Easy Writer© is an ESL Writing tutorial for intermediate and advanced English grammar students. The CD-ROM for Windows computers contains hours of valuable and fun writing correction and practice.
The main objective of this unique CD-ROM is teach students English grammar by making them correct common mistakes of other ESL students.
The ESL writings (letters, essays, etc) are chosen from real ESL students throughout the world. The letters are broken up into different levels of difficulty.
How does it work? Students read the writings on the screen and correct them by simply clicking on the mistaken words and then entering the correction into the keyboard. Easy Writer© will then alert the student if his correction is wrong, or congratulate him if the right correction was made. It may sound confusing, but it isn't. Help is always available at any time. Also, if the student does not know the answer he can just click to get it.
ESL students can can use Easy Writer© to reinforce previous ESL writing skills learned in school. And ESL schools that incorporate Easy Writer into their curriculum give their students a fun and sound way to learn good writing skills. There are different versions of the software designed for use by individuals and language labs alike.
